OverDrive features downloadable eAudiobooks, eBooks and more. BPLD cardholders can use their Library Card and PIN # to download eBooks and eAudiobooks to a computer or to a portable device such as a smartphone, tablet, Nook, iPod or MP3 player.

What do I need to access OverDrive?

To access OverDrive, you must have a valid Bartlett Public Library District Card. You will need your barcode and password. Unless you changed it, your password is a default we set for you. It’s a 4-digit PIN, based on your birthday. It’s the two numbers of your birth month, and the LAST two digits of your birth year. So if you were born in April of 1973, your password would be 0473.

How do I access and use OverDrive?

Libby App (PC/iOS/Android/Kindle Fire)

ACCESS FROM THE LIBRARY & HOME

Get/install the Libby, by OverDrive app to your device via the App Store (iOS), the Google Play Store (Android/Kindle Fire), or for Windows 10+ users, the Microsoft Store (PC). For Windows 10+ users, go to https://meet.libbyapp.com, scroll down, and click Get it from Microsoft to open the PC get/install page.

LINKING TO LIBRARY CARD (FIRST TIME)
  1. Open the app and click Hi!
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and click Search Libraries.
  3. Search for the Bartlett Public Library and click its selection.
  4. Click Add Your Card, enter your Card Number & PIN, and click Sign In.
NAVIGATING LIBBY

Search for a specific title using the search bar at the top of the app. To browse, scroll down to the Popular Collections section and click Explore our collections > to be taken to a page where you can specify the format you would like (All Formats, Books, or Audiobooks) and select a genre.

BORROWING/HOLDING TITLES
  1. Locate a title of interest and click either the Borrow or Place Hold button next to the titles cover.
  2. Click the Borrow! or Place Hold! button (optionally, you may enter your email address when placing a hold for an email notification when it becomes available).
  3. Click Keep Browsing to return to the library.
VIEWING/PLAYING BORROWED TITLES
  1. At the bottom of the screen, click Shelf.
  2. Click the Open Book, Open Audiobook, or Resume button next to your desired title.
  3. Click (or swipe) the left or right sides of the app to turn the pages of a book, or click the large play button to begin an audiobook.
  4. Click Library or Shelf to exit the title (click the center of the app to open the navigation bar if needed).
RETURNING TITLES EARLY
  1. At the bottom of the screen, click Shelf.
  2. Click Actions… next to the title you would like to return.
  3. Click Return Title to Library, then click Return!

At the bottom of the www.bartlettlibrary.org homepage, under 24/7 eLIBRARY, click OverDrive (eBooks & eAudio).

  2. Click the Return icon located under the title.
  3. Click Return Title.

OverDrive App (PC)

ACCESS FROM THE LIBRARY & HOME

Go to https://app.overdrive.com, scroll down to the bottom of the page, and click Download for Windows 8 & 10 to open the OverDrive – Library eBooks & Audiobooks get/install page.

SIGNING UP (FIRST TIME)
  1. Open the app and click Sign Up, then click Sign up using library card.
  2. Search for the Bartlett Public Library, then click its selection.
  3. Enter your Card Number & PIN and click Sign In.
  4. Click Add a library, search for the Bartlett Public Library, then click its selection.
  5. Click Bartlett Public Library once more.
  6. Click the Sign In button on the right side of the screen.
  7. Enter your Card Number & PIN and click Sign In.

  3. Click on the left or right sides to turn the pages of a book, or click the large play button to begin an audiobook.
  4. Click the center of the screen, then tap the back arrow in the top left corner to exit the title.
RETURNING TITLES EARLY
  1. On the home screen of the app, right-click on title’s cover to reveal its options along the bottom of the app.
  2. Click Delete/Return, then click Delete and return.

How to Borrow & Send eBooks to a Kindle with OverDrive Internet Browser

SIGN IN

Card Number: 14-digit library card number.

NAVIGATING OVERDRIVE

Search for a specific title using the search bar at the top (click on the desired title’s cover and make sure it says Kindle Books in the Formats section on the right side of the screen). To browse, click Kindle Books on the left side of the screen to be taken to a page where you can browse titles formatted for Kindle. You can specify the genre you would prefer under the Subjects heading in the left sidebar.

BORROWING/HOLDING TITLES
  1. Locate a title of interest and click either the Borrow or Place a Hold button under the titles cover. If placing a hold, you must enter/confirm your Email address and click Place a Hold again.
  2. Scroll to the top of the screen and click the bookshelf icon (three-book icon) on the right side.
  3. Click Read now with kindle next to your title to open its corresponding www.amazon.com page.
  4. If you are not already signed in, hover over Accounts & Lists at the top of the page, click Sign in, enter your www.amazon.com credentials, and click Sign in.
  5. In the green box on the left side, choose your device from the drop-down list, and click Get library book. The title should now be downloaded and ready to enjoy on the selected Kindle device.
RETURNING TITLES EARLY
  1. Go to www.amazon.com.
  2. If you aren’t already signed in, hover over Accounts & Lists at the top of the page, click Sign in, enter your www.amazon.com credentials, and click Sign in.
  3. Hover over Accounts & Lists at the top of the page, then click Your Content and Devices.
  4. Click the Actions icon to the left of the title’s name, click Return this book, then click Yes.

Why are certain authors not available through the Library's OverDrive collection?
